Australian Aerial Photographer Brad Walls Makes His Large-Scale Asian Debut At Groundseesaw Yongsan, Seoul

Australian aerial photographer Brad Walls opens his first large-scale Asian exhibition, Photographs by Brad Walls: Moving Life, Still Art, at Groundseesaw Yongsan on September 11, 2026, running through March 1, 2027. This exhibition will be hosted in a space that’s roughly 1,000 square metres, six zones, and you can expect a new piece made in South Korea for this exhibition.

Walls shoots from directly overhead. Sport and dance, seen from that position, distil into line and rhythm, symmetry and negative space. A single moment of the body at its most intense, brought to a standstill.

The show runs as one journey through six zones: the clean lines of athletes in motion (Life Lines), the geometry of the human body (Body Geometry), curves and blue tones staged on water (Blue Harmony), and ballet sharpened against a stripped-back background (The Silent Frame), before the centrepiece.

That centrepiece is Still Art – Passé. In a space saturated with red, dancers carry ballet’s fundamental positions through as one continuous flow, and the camera directly above catches each pause and throws it onto a large LED panel. You watch the photograph being made. Neither a performance on a stage nor a video on a screen.

Dancers perform beneath the camera on weekends. At other times visitors step under it themselves and make their own aerial composition, from the exact position every image in the show was shot from.

The exhibition closes with Korean Still ‘Gyeol’, made with 1MILLION Dance Studio, the world’s largest dance studio with more than 26 million YouTube subscribers, and directed by choreographer Lia Kim. Gyeol (결) is the Korean word for grain: the line in timber, the pull of water, the way fabric falls. A word for the direction a material already wants to go. It makes its first public appearance here.

More than 60 products have been produced for the show, across enough categories that the range sits closer to a product line than a gallery shop.
