Just yesterday, Thursday morning (6 March), I attended the press screening for ‘The Solitary Gourmet’ at The Projector Singapore and was pleasantly entertained by the Japanese film. Set to open on 27th March, ‘The Solitary Gourmet’ transcends a simple movie adaptation, delivering a deeply resonant culinary odyssey. Yutaka Matsushige, both reprising his iconic role as Goro Inogashira and stepping into the director’s chair, masterfully crafts a film that goes beyond showcasing food.
It’s a journey into the heart of human connection, driven by a single, poignant wish. Goro’s quest to recreate a lost taste, a grandfather’s cherished memory, becomes a powerful exploration of cultural heritage and personal discovery.
